Ngāti Ruapani ki Uta, ki Tai Co-operative Society Limited is a Primary Community Co-operative formed under the provisions of the Co-operative Companies Act 1996. The abbreviated name of this Co-operative Society is Ngāti Ruapani Co-op Ltd.
The objectives of Ngāti Ruapani Co-op Ltd. are to:
- Unify all of the whānau, hapū, land trusts, governance entities and Treaty claimants at Waikaremoana, Te Reinga, Wairoa, Te Pūtere and Gisborne under a co-operative society structure.
- Build a strong cultural, social, economic base and data base of descendants of the wider iwi of Ngāti Ruapani ki Uta, ki Tai, with a registration base of at least 5000 members.
- Maintain the ‘mana motuhake’ and ‘tino rangatiratanga’ of the lands, forests, lakes and waterways, marine and coastal areas of whānau and hapū of Ngāti Ruapani ki Uta, ki Tai,
- Unify all of the whānau, hapū, land trusts, governance entities and Treaty claimants of Ngāti Ruapani ki Uta, ki Tai,
- Unify all of the whānau, hapū data bases into a single registration base for Ngāti Ruapani ki Uta, ki Tai descendants.
- Collaborate to encourage and build economic regional development opportunities for Ruapani Iwi utilizing its land, people, creativity and resources.
- Support the principles of self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and the collaboration of hapu and iwi members for a common benefit.
Our rohe extends from the mountains of Waikaremoana to Te Reinga to the coastal lands of Wairoa and Tūranga-nui-a-Kiwa.
Our mission statement is

New Members to Ngāti Ruapani Ki Uta Ki Tai Co-op Ltd.(NRKUKT)
To join as a member will automatically cover your membership to the Harakeke Alliance, the Harakeke Community Alliance and the Harakeke Industry Alliance. This membership will enable NRKUKT members to be prioritised in regards to a growing new Harakeke Industry led by our Director Mark Henderson as he works towards a promising new industry for Ngati Ruapani and other communities to benefit. Membership also enables you to receive information, newsletters and updates regards the Harakeke Industry development, Ngati Ruapani Claims process, housing & water developments and hopefully the NRKUKT Coop Ltd will be able to provide future governance training and work opportunities with all members having the ability to attend and vote at membership meetings.
